Demo Day February 2013

We had a rather snowy Demo Day this month! Thanks to all who came out for the fun! We played with the ScrapBuster Table Runner! A really fun way to use up your extra 2 1/2" jelly roll strips. I grabbed some batiks and using the Binding Tool or the Creative Grids Quick Trim Ruler I cut my batik strips 8 1/2" x 2 1/2" and then mitred one end. Next I used some black batiks and cut an 8 1/2" center square and lots of 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" squares. Click on the link above to see a You Tube Video by Missouri Star Quilt Company that will take you through the entire process. Selvages are fun!

 

I first got intrigued by selvages upon seeing a woman wearing a great skirt made from selvages at Quilt Market! After that I started collecting my selvages & my friends started giving me  their selvages and next thing I knew...I had a mountain of selvages to work from! I started small, making a potholder or two, then Sandy Thompson wrote a great book, called Save the Selvages! Ooh, now lots of great ideas! Last Saturday was our January Demo Day at the shop & I needed something to demo! I had stumbled upon this great selvage project & quickly got to work!
