Fall Quilt Market 2009 Houston Texas
Just back from Fall Quilt Market, Houston Texas. It was a fantastic show, with great fabrics, patterns & inspiration everywhere! I can not wait to to show you all ..what is new! The very nice surprise was meeting up with Mary Jane Butters from Mary Jane's Farm Magazine, a favorite at The Village Quilter. She introduced her very first fabric line through Andover Fabrics!
Also, lots of wonderful Japanese taupe fabrics from several fabric companies. I love these fabrics, as they envoke a certain element of calm & tranquility. We currently have a MODA line called Evening Mist that I invite you to explore. We are currently working on a shop sample & I can see it in a great winter handbag.
Let me know what your thoughts!

Moorestown Mall T-Shirt Quilt Dedication
The Moorestown Area Quilters worked all spring & summer in piecing together a Moorestown T-Shirt Quilt that will hang permanently in the Moorestown Mall. The dedication ceremony was this past Saturday Sept 26 & was highlighted with Meg Cox as the guest speaker. Pretty cool thing to happen in a mall!
A Busy Weekend!
Well we had a wonderful, busy weekend at the shop. We had a guest teacher Aunt Phyllis from Aunt Phyllies Toothbrush Rugs in from Denver to teach five (5) full classes on how to make her oval toothbrush rugs! She arrived Thursday evening with her puppy Abigail in tow who made friends quickly with all the students & shoppers & was eventually given free rein of the shop.

New Fabrics from Timeless Treasures
Take a look at this fun group of fabrics that arrived today at the shop! There is something about indigo blue that just is just full of energy. My daughter Kate just painted her room Midnight Blue and yes I was mortified, but it actually came out quite nice! Very dramatic! These fabrics could really add a splash of excitement. Perhaps I'll test those waters with a pillowcase! If you know what I mean. Check out Timeless Treasures website for a free quilt pattern using Indigo.

Yet Another Hip To Be Square Quilt!
Well, we just finished up yet another shop sample using the
beautiful Neptune Collection by MODA.
This one is the Hip to Be Square pattern that is really a fun quilt to make. 12 fabrics- 1/2 yard cuts of 11 & 1 yard of your favorite. I love how the blues & greens all get showcased in each of the blocks. And when Rosemary added her sea shell quilting design ...wow ... the finishing touch!
Got Kits? Absolutely!
PS: Notice that our Trumpet Vine is in full bloom along the fence! If only it would bloom at the porch!

A Sunday on the River
Well no quilting or golfing today! We finally bought a bike rack & decided to venture into Philly for a ride along the Schuylkill River & Art Museum areas. What a beautiful ride & a great way to see a different view of the city. I think the entire loop we did was about 7 miles. With a stop at a Starbucks for refueling of course!
Next time we're thinking of riding alittle further up to Manayunk!
Home now & back to quilting!

A Paper Pieced Gem
Susan J. of Mt. Holly proudly shows off her fabulous paper pieced baby quilt. Susan used Carol Doak's wonderful book & CD, 300 Paper Pieced Quilt Blocks to create her wonderfully whimsical quilt.
Paper piecing has become quite popular this year at the shop, thanks to Kim's wonderful beginners classes & then the newly established Paper Piecing Club that helps students further their skills under Kim's guidance.

Purse Classes!
Making handbags is all the rage now! The patterns out there are just wonderful!
Lynn W. was happy to pose with her new Morgan Bag, a wonderfully roomy bag from Renay Martin's Purse Strings Collection. Lynn completed her bag during a recent class at the shop in under 4 hours!
Look for more purse classes in our soon to be released, summer schedule.

Soak Wash
We've recently noticed an increase in popularity for this wonderful product, Soak. We've actually been selling it at the shop for well over a year now. It is a wonderful, gentle, no rinse product for all your fine washables. Our customers use it for their quilts, their lingerie(especially while traveling) & for those stuffed animals that are just too big or fragile for the washing machine.
We currently have in stock the Sola Scent by Amy Butler- my favorite!

I am really not much of a mall shopper anymore, but have you noticed the new signage at our local mall in Moorestown New Jersey? Is that not a quilt design on that sign? Some really cool things are going to be happening at the mall this summer & it's indeed quilt related! I'll write more about it when I get the info!

Book Singing with Shirley Bloomfield
Our book signing event yesterday with Shirley Bloomfield was wonderful. Not only did the weather brighten & give us a day of sunshine & 50 degrees; Shirley brought so many of her beautiful applique garden quilts to share with us...it was truly a spring day at the shop! She spend 2 hours signing her book The Applique Garden & did 2 demonstrations on tips in mastering applique. She wowed us all! Shirley is in the United States this month to teach at the Applique Academy in Williamsburg. She had many new patterns to share with us & we are excited to begin teaching them in the spring!
