Wow, miles & miles of vendors or so it seems. We have just finished up Soldiers Pride as a Block of the Month program at the shop & now it the pattern is available to the entire quilting world!

The rest of the day was what I call

" window shopping". Just for fun & just to make us feel like we are using up our fabric stash! I am challenging you all to do (1) block a day for 45 days. That should bring us to August where we will have fun sharing ideas of putting them together!

So just make one nine patch block each day using your stash. Just one block each day. Any size, any color, using any method There are no 9 Patch Police, so if you prefer to sit down and make a weeks worth of blocks at one time, that's OK too. I'm recommending a 6" finished block, but you can choose any size you like (actually I have tons of 5" squares so I am going to make big ones too). Bigger blocks mean bigger quilts. Here's a cool way of making a 9-Patch Block.

Alex's Lemonade Days begins tomorrow!

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_hfFEOxrOVFA/TBF9As4r0pI/AAAAAAAAAEI/V_z3D57llNg/s400/QUilt_01.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5481299672488989330" />
Well we made it! The idea is to make pillowcases & for quilt shops to donate them to a designated charity. We designated the ConKerr Cancer Foundation as they are set up to donate the pillowcases to children who are currently undergoing cancer treatments. I am thrilled to report that we have donated about 200 so far this year! I want to say this challenge has helped me learn of many more organizations that are assisting children fighting pediatric cancers. Most recently I met Joann Nawrocki, who heads up Alexa Nawrocki Pediatric Cancer Foundation. After learning more about this foundation I immediately offered Joann some of our pillowcases! She gladly accepted them to give to the children they are in contact with at Children's Hospital of Phl.

Junk Bag -Done

Hmm- Just finished up a new bag pattern by Jackie Clark - The Junk Bag! Put it on the list.

Best Christmas Gift

My staff & my close friends & family all know that I am a big promoter of giving handmade gifts! It was a fantastic show, with great fabrics, patterns & inspiration everywhere! I can not wait to to show you all ..what is new! The very nice surprise was meeting up with Mary Jane Butters from Mary Jane's Farm Magazine, a favorite at The Village Quilter. She introduced her very first fabric line through Andover Fabrics!

Also, lots of wonderful Japanese taupe fabrics from several fabric companies. I love these fabrics, as they envoke a certain element of calm & tranquility. We currently have a MODA line called Evening Mist that I invite you to explore. We are currently working on a shop sample & I can see it in a great winter handbag.

Let me know what your thoughts!

Hello from Fall Quilt Market- Houston texas

You all know I never miss a market! There is something about indigo blue that just is just full of energy. My daughter Kate just painted her room Midnight Blue and yes I was mortified, but it actually came out quite nice! Very dramatic! These fabrics could really add a splash of excitement. Perhaps I'll test those waters with a pillowcase! If you know what I mean. Check out Timeless Treasures website for a free quilt pattern using Indigo.

Yet Another Hip To Be Square Quilt!

Well, we just finished up yet another shop sample using the

beautiful Neptune Collection by MODA.

This one is the Hip to Be Square pattern that is really a fun quilt to make. 12 fabrics- 1/2 yard cuts of 11 & 1 yard of your favorite. I love the renewed enthusiasm January brings. I made one New Years Resolution & that was to keep my home studio more organized. I need the structure. That is why I almost always wear an apron - I feel more organized & in control of my life. And with all those great new apron patterns out there now who can resist! Flirty Skirty from Threaded Pear is one of my favorites.

January also brings happy customers to the shop, all refreshed & ready to tackle new projects. We are looking forward to new fabrics from Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, MODA, Kona Bay & lots more. It's going to be a good year!

As i look back on 2007 I didn't get much personal quilting done, but I did manage to get my husbands golf quilt done in time for his 50th birthday! I have been collecting the golf fabrics for 5 years & finally settled on a pattern from BlueUnderground Studios...it was perfect. Gracie, our 10 year old lab thinks so too!

I thought it would be fun to start off the new year with a contest! Post your New Years quilting resolution on my blog & we'll enter your name into a drawing for a free MODA Jelly Roll!
